KITA is providing competency based skills training in agribusiness for 317 youth from 7 districts in the Ashanti region under the Rural Enterprises Project of the Government of Ghana.
The skills delivered included competency based skills, business development, marketing and entrepreneurial skills to enable participants to go back to their communities and start their own businesses and manage them effectively. The training covered the following skill areas – soap making and cosmetics, baking and confectioneries, piggery, poultry, grasscutter, rabbitry, fruit juice processing and nut processing, post harvest handling of rice, sheep and goats, fish farming, beekeeping, etc
According to the Director Samuel Owusu-Takyi, KITA’s training is tailor made to ensure that participants are able to set up their own businesses after the training. Fortunately the Rural Enterprises program has promised to support participants with a start up package each to be able to go back and start their own business. KITA will train participants in business planning and entrepreneurial skills that will make them change agents in enhancing productivity Participants will learn how to identify and take advantage of business opportunities along the respective value chains.
Empowering youth to take up agribusinesses as a career is the hallmark of the training at KITA and KITA is grateful to partner with the Rural Enterprises Program to improve the lives of youth, women and men in the surrounding communities in Ashanti Region.
