A BRIEF HISTORY
The (University) College of Tropical Agriculture was registered in May 2010 to take over the tertiary educational programs of the Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture. The Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture has been operating a professional farmers’ college since 1984. It is the premiere private agricultural college that has been offering technical vocational courses and other tertiary courses in general agriculture under the supervision of the National Accreditation Board (NAB), National Board for Professional and Technicians Examination (NABPTEX) and the National Council for Tertiary Education (NTCE), The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), the Ministry of Education (MOE), and the Ministry of Manpower Youth and Employment (MMYE).

Graduates of the Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture (KITA) are noted as ambassadors of professional farming, agribusiness entrepreneurs, sustainable agriculture, eco-village, and permaculture design, and they have won many best farmer awards throughout Ghana and beyond.
